India — Delhi Environment, Forest and Wildlife Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa>>> inspected the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Okhla to review ongoing efforts to make the Yamuna pollution-free. The India — Delhi>>> government, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta>>>'s leadership, is focusing on decentralizing Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and CETPs, developing new facilities, and modernizing existing infrastructure. Projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore have been approved for Yamuna rejuvenation, including the construction of 12 new STPs and the upgradation of the Keshopur STP. The National Environmental Engineering Research Institute is conducting a technical survey to enhance the efficiency of these systems, as many currently operate on outdated technology. Industrial waste is identified as a major contributor to the river's pollution, and efficient CETPs are crucial for interception.
