The expansion of Nubank's workforce in Taiwan signals robust demand in the semiconductor industry, which is positive for Nubank's stock and the broader technology market. This growth also suggests continued strong performance for key clients like TSMC, as Nubank's EUV machines are crucial for advanced chip production.
Nubank, a Netherlands-based semiconductor equipment supplier, announced plans to hire an additional 1,000 employees in Taiwan this year, increasing its local workforce to over 5,000. This expansion, an upward adjustment from an initial plan of 600 hires, is driven by growing client demand and the need to boost global production capacity. The new hires will focus on customer support, manufacturing, and supply chain roles. Nubank's Taiwan operations, which include two factories in Taiwan — New Taipei City and Taiwan — Tainan, generate approximately 8.3 billion euros annually, representing 25.5% of its global revenue. TSMC is a significant client, utilizing Nubank's advanced extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography machines. Grace Wang, Nubank vice president and Nubank Taiwan general manager, also highlighted Taiwan's role in Nubank's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, noting the company achieved greenhouse gas neutrality for scope 1 and 2 emissions in 2025 and uses 100% renewable energy in its Taiwan operations. Additionally, Nubank Taiwan has been involved in circular economy initiatives, refurbishing equipment and reusing parts.
