Nvidia retires Control Panel for GeForce

Nvidia has officially retired its classic Nvidia Control Panel for GeForce users after two decades of service, effective with the Game Ready Driver 610.47 release. This change is part of Nvidia's strategy to consolidate its software ecosystem around the newer Nvidia App, which was introduced in 2024. All actively supported features from the Control Panel have been modernized and transitioned to the Nvidia App, which the company claims runs faster and more efficiently while offering additional functionalities like DLSS overrides and in-game monitoring. Existing installations of the Control Panel will remain, but clean driver installations will remove it. Users can still download the Control Panel from the Microsoft — Microsoft Store, but it will no longer receive updates or bug fixes. Professional RTX PRO users will continue to have support for the Control Panel until their specific features are fully migrated to the Nvidia App. This move has generated mixed reactions among users, with some welcoming the streamlined experience and others expressing nostalgia for the reliable, lightweight utility.
