TotalEnergies files for Centre Manche authorization

TotalEnergies, through its wholly owned subsidiary Centre Manche Energies, has filed an application for the Single Authorization of its 1.5 GW Centre Manche Energies offshore wind project off the coast of France — Normandy, France. This marks a crucial step in developing what is described as France's largest renewables project, awarded to TotalEnergies eight months prior. The project, estimated at €4.5 billion ($5.2 billion), is expected to generate approximately 6 TWh of electricity annually, sufficient to power over one million French homes. The authorization dossier includes technical and environmental surveys, a preliminary wind farm design, and an installation program. The permitting process will now undergo government review, with ongoing consultations with local officials, environmental groups, and the public. The project is anticipated to create up to 2,500 jobs during its three-year construction phase, with TotalEnergies prioritizing European suppliers for key components.
