The funding round was co-led by major venture capital firms including Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer Investment Group, GHO Capital Partners, and Sequoia Capital, with additional participation from Capital Group, Coatue Management, D1 Capital Partners, GIC (sovereign wealth fund), Iconiq Capital, XN (investment firm), Baillie Gifford, Blackstone Inc., Brookfield Asset Management, and Temasek Holdings. Strategic infrastructure partners such as Amazon (company), Micron Technology, Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Google, Broadcom, and SpaceX also contributed, with Amazon (company) committing $5 billion and Anthropic committing to spend over $100 billion on Amazon's cloud technologies. The capital will be used to expand Anthropic's computing capacity, advance its safety and interpretability research, and scale its Claude AI products to meet surging enterprise demand. Anthropic also released its latest model, Claude Opus 4.8, and previewed Claude Mythos.
