EU-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue, GSP+ Status

Kaja Kallas, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, visited Pakistan>>> to co-chair the 8th EU-Pakistan>>> Strategic Dialogue with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar>>>. During her visit, Kallas also met with President Asif Ali Zardari>>>, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif>>>, and Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir>>>. The dialogue focused on reviewing bilateral relations under the Strategic Engagement Plan, discussing cooperation in political, economic, security, and development fields, and exchanging views on regional and international developments. The European Union>>> remains Pakistan>>>'s second-largest trading partner, with the Generalized System of Preferences status significantly benefiting Pakistan>>>'s exports, particularly textiles. The EU Parliament recently extended this status until 2027, contingent on Pakistan>>>'s implementation of 27 international conventions on human rights, labor rights, good governance, and the environment.
