Nigeria IGP warns against police video sharing

Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Inspector-General of the Nigeria — Nigeria Police Force, issued a public warning to content creators, social media users, and the general public against the indiscriminate recording and circulation of police-related videos. He expressed concern that such actions could undermine security operations, demoralize officers, and fuel misinformation, especially when old or manipulated videos are circulated. While reaffirming the Nigeria — Nigeria Police Force's commitment to accountability and transparency, Olatunji Rilwan Disu stressed the need to balance public scrutiny with operational realities and officer welfare. He also reiterated the Force's zero-tolerance stance against misconduct, assuring Nigerians that disciplinary actions would continue against erring personnel. The White House Correspondents Association, represented by Festus Fifen, called for improved collaboration between the police and the media to ensure timely access to credible information.
