The acquisition of Capita by Scripbox signifies consolidation in the Indian wealth management sector, potentially leading to increased competition and enhanced service offerings for clients. This could positively impact the financial services industry in India by fostering more robust and technologically advanced platforms.
Scripbox, a Bengaluru-based wealth management platform, has acquired the mutual fund distribution business of Delhi-NCR-based Capita. This strategic move is part of Scripbox's broader plan to integrate independent wealth management firms across India, expanding its presence in North India and enhancing its service offerings. The deal ensures continuity for Capita's clients and employees, who will transition to Scripbox and gain access to its institutional research, data-driven asset allocation, and digital wealth management platform. Ravi Kohli, founder of Capita, emphasized the importance of choosing a partner that shares values and commitment to clients, while Atul Shinghal, CEO of Scripbox, highlighted the goal of empowering a million Indians to achieve financial freedom. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Pegasus Finserv advised Capita, while LegaLogic Consulting and Globeview Advisors LLP supported Scripbox.
