Servier acquires Edgewise Therapeutics' muscular dystrophy business

Laboratoires Servier, an international pharmaceutical group, has announced an agreement to acquire the muscular dystrophy business of Edgewise Therapeutics Inc. for up to $2.65 billion. This includes an upfront payment of $1.55 billion and up to $1.1 billion in regulatory and commercial milestone payments. The transaction, approved by both companies' governance bodies, is subject to regulatory clearance and customary closing conditions, with an expected close in the third quarter of 2026. The acquisition includes sevasemten, an investigational orally administered fast skeletal myosin inhibitor for Becker and Duchenne muscular dystrophies, which is currently in late-stage clinical trials. This move is a key step for Laboratoires Servier to achieve its 2030 ambition in neurology and aims to provide targeted therapies for patients with rare neuromuscular disorders. Kevin Koch, CEO of Edgewise Therapeutics, believes Laboratoires Servier is well-positioned to advance the program.
