Hakusan, a global leader in optical connector components, announced its decision to invest approximately JPY 5 billion to build a second plant in Japan — Kahoku City, Japan — Ōita Prefecture, Japan. This strategic investment aims to scale up full-scale production of next-generation TMT Ferrules and MMC Connectors, essential for ultra-compact multi-fiber optical networks. The expansion is a direct response to the rapidly increasing data center investment driven by generative AI adoption and growing demand from hyperscalers worldwide. The new plant, set to begin operations by April 2028, will strengthen Hakusan's global supply capabilities and operationalize a multi-source agreement with US Conec and Sanwa Technologies. Hakusan also plans to relocate its headquarters to the new facility and significantly increase recruiting in Japan — Ōita Prefecture.
