The collaboration between Sivers Semiconductors and GlobalFoundries is expected to positively impact the semiconductor and data center industries by advancing silicon photonics solutions for AI infrastructure. This could lead to increased demand for both companies' technologies, potentially boosting their stock prices and market share.
Sivers Semiconductors and GlobalFoundries have announced a strategic collaboration to develop advanced silicon photonics solutions for the high-growth AI infrastructure market. Sivers Semiconductors' laser arrays will be integrated into reference designs built on GlobalFoundries' silicon photonics platform, supporting various optical connectivity architectures including co-packaged optics (CPO) and linear pluggable optics (LPO). These laser arrays will also be available in GlobalFoundries' Silicon Photonics Co-packaged Advanced Light Engine (SCALE™) platform. This partnership aims to address the increasing demand for higher bandwidth, improved energy efficiency, and scalable optical connectivity driven by AI workloads and hyperscale data center architectures. Both companies anticipate this collaboration will position them at the forefront of silicon photonics innovation, targeting a $25 billion Pluggable Optics market by 2030.
