OEHC deploys Itron smart water meters

France — Office d Equipement Hydraulique de Corse (OEHC), the public entity responsible for water management in France — Corsica, France, has announced a collaboration with Itron, Inc. to deploy 10,000 Intelis wSource ultrasonic solid-state water meters. This initiative aims to upgrade existing mechanical meters to improve the accuracy and reliability of water consumption data, thereby supporting OEHC's goal to preserve water resources and save 5 million cubic meters of water annually by 2035. The deployment, which follows a successful pilot in 2023, is expected to be completed by 2030. This move addresses the challenge of inaccurate billing and significant water loss due to outdated metering infrastructure in a region highly susceptible to climate disruption, where agriculture accounts for a large portion of water usage.
