National_Motor_Freight_Traffic_Association Launches Threat Portal

The National Motor Freight Traffic Association (National Motor Freight Traffic Association) has launched a free online Threat Report Portal, allowing transportation companies to anonymously report freight fraud, cargo theft, and cybersecurity incidents. This initiative aims to improve industry-wide threat intelligence sharing as cyber-enabled cargo crime and fraud schemes increase. The portal is available to carriers, brokers, third-party logistics providers, and shippers, enabling them to share information and gain visibility into threats. Joe Ohr, National Motor Freight Traffic Association's chief operations and technical officer, highlighted that sharing experiences benefits the entire industry by helping organizations understand evolving threat patterns. The portal complements National Motor Freight Traffic Association's Freight Fraud Prevention Hub and addresses issues identified by the United States — Federal Bureau of Investigation. Other efforts to combat fraud include a revamped registration system by the United States — Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the United States — United States Department of Transportation, and the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act of 2025 being considered by the United States, supported by organizations like the American Lung Association.
