A new study published in Science (journal) by researchers from the University of Oulu, University of Helsinki, and University of Turku in Finland demonstrates that Bumblebee can spontaneously solve novel object-manipulation tasks without prior training. This challenges the long-standing assumption that such problem-solving is restricted to humans and other large-brained vertebrates. The bees learned to move a ball to reach an out-of-reach artificial flower, a behavior they had never been taught.
