Sudan drone strike kills 11

A drone strike on a market in Abu Zaeima, North Sudan — North Kordofan, Sudan, killed at least 11 civilians and wounded dozens. This attack is part of an escalating trend of aerial assaults in the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which began in April 2023. The Emergency Lawyers rights group reported the incident and similar strikes in nearby villages. Another drone hit a fuel station in El-Obeid, the capital of North Sudan — North Kordofan, wounding four. The United Nations has reported at least 880 civilian deaths from drone strikes nationwide between January and April. Fighting has intensified in Sudan — North Kordofan and Sudan — Blue Nile State since the Rapid Support Forces captured El-Fasher in October, displacing over 300,000 people. The war, now in its fourth year, has killed tens of thousands and displaced millions, creating the world's largest displacement and hunger crises.
