Delhi CM Leads Yamuna Cleanliness

The 'Yamuna Riverbank Cleanliness Campaign 2026' is a large-scale initiative organized by the India — Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, to clean the Yamuna River and its banks. The campaign, conducted across 28 ghats, aims to raise public awareness and encourage collective participation in environmental conservation. Rekha Gupta personally participated in the drive, emphasizing that the Yamuna is integral to India — Delhi's culture and lifeline, and its cleanliness is a shared responsibility. The government is implementing scientific strategies, including modernizing sewage treatment plants and expanding sewer networks, to prevent untreated sewage discharge. Dedicated collection centers for puja materials are also being established. The campaign has seen participation from thousands of volunteers, social, religious, and educational organizations, as well as political leaders like Parvesh Verma and Bhupender Gupta. However, opposition parties, including the India — Aam Aadmi Party and India — Indian National Congress, have criticized the ruling India — Bharatiya Janata Party government, alleging that the efforts are superficial and focused on publicity rather than genuinely cleaning the polluted river.
