SIPRI Warns of Rising Nuclear Risks

Key nuclear powers, including the United States and Russia, are modernizing their arsenals, though both face challenges. China is rapidly expanding its nuclear capabilities, driven by geopolitical competition, and is projected to potentially match the United States and Russia in ICBMs by 2030. Other nations like France and the United Kingdom are also increasing or planning to increase their stockpiles. India and Pakistan are expanding their arsenals, and North Korea continues its exponential growth in nuclear weapons. Israel is also believed to be modernizing its arsenal. This global trend indicates a breakdown in strategic arms controls and intensifying competition among nuclear powers.
