Yunus, Officials Sued Over Measles Deaths

A legal petition has been filed against former chief advisor to the interim government Muhammad Yunus, former health advisor Nurjahan Begum, and several other former officials, including Md Sayedur Rahman, Md Sayedur Rahman, Md Abu Jafor, and Shafiqul Alam, in Bangladesh. The petition alleges negligence of duty and deliberate failure to import measles vaccines on time, which led to a measles outbreak and the deaths of hundreds of children. The complainants, including MP Mujibur Rahman Iqbal and Sirajul Islam, father of a deceased child, claim that the interim government's actions amounted to a breach of constitutional duty, abuse of power, and even 'planned killings' aimed at discrediting the succeeding administration. A UNICEF representative was cited as a witness, indicating prior warnings about vaccine needs. The court has recorded statements and is pending further orders.
