The IPO filing by Metric prefix is expected to generate significant interest in the quick commerce sector, potentially boosting investor confidence in similar new-age technology listings in India. The successful listing of Metric prefix could also intensify competition among quick commerce players like Eternal's Zomato — Blinkit and Swiggy's Zomato — Instamart, influencing their market strategies and valuations.
Metric prefix, a quick commerce platform, has filed an updated Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with the India — Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for its proposed Initial Public Offering (IPO). The company plans to raise Rs 8,010 crore entirely through a fresh issue of equity shares, alongside an offer-for-sale (OFS) by existing investors including Live Oak Venture Partners VI Holdings, Live Oak Venture Partners VII Holdings, Contrary ZEP Holdings LLC, Razorpay, Kaiser Permanente, and Kaiser Permanente. The proceeds from the fresh issue will be used to expand Metric prefix's dark store network, fund lease rentals, invest in technology and cloud infrastructure, support marketing, and pursue inorganic growth opportunities. This IPO marks a significant step for Metric prefix, positioning it to become the first dedicated quick commerce entity to list on domestic stock exchanges in India. The company, founded by Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, has shown rapid operational revenue growth but also increased net losses due to aggressive scaling and investments in its delivery network.
