SatSure receives India AI grant

Indian space startup SatSure Analytics secured a 246 million rupee ($2.57 million) grant from India's space regulator to develop AI models for Earth observation. This initiative is part of India's broader strategy to build sovereign AI capabilities and reduce dependence on foreign technology for critical applications like climate management, disaster response, and national security. The funding will support the creation of large Earth observation models using satellite and drone data tailored to India's specific conditions, aiming to improve accuracy over global models. SatSure's co-founder and CTO, Rashmit Singh Sukhmani, highlighted that these models will help build decision-making systems reflecting India's unique geography, climate, and infrastructure requirements. The grant also supports SatSure's participation in India's program to develop a commercial satellite constellation, further integrating private firms into the space sector, which was historically led by the India — ISRO.
