Nigeria North-West Governors Poverty Plan

Governors from Nigeria's North-West region, in partnership with the Office of the Vice President, the European Union, UNICEF, and other development partners, have committed to concrete, time-bound actions to reduce multidimensional poverty and improve the lives of children and women. Following a high-level policy dialogue in Kano, they adopted a joint communiqué outlining strategies to scale up social protection systems, strengthen service delivery, and increase domestic financing for poverty reduction. The initiative also includes a roadmap and monitoring framework to track progress. Key figures like Kashim Shettima, Dikko Umar Radda (represented by Faruk Lawal), Gautier Mignot, and Wafaa Saeed emphasized the importance of sustained leadership, financing, accountability, and child-focused interventions.
