The 57th Director General-level Border Coordination Conference between India — Border Security Force (BSF) of India and Bangladesh — Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) concluded in New Delhi from June 8-11. Led by Praveen Kumar (police officer) for India and Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui for Bangladesh, the four-day meeting reaffirmed commitment to peace and stability along the India-Bangladesh border. Both sides agreed to strengthen coordinated patrols, enhance vigilance, improve real-time information sharing, and intensify joint efforts against trans-border criminal networks. They also reiterated a 'zero tolerance' policy towards trans-border crimes, insurgent activities, and actions undermining border security. Discussions covered preventing smuggling of narcotics, arms, counterfeit currency, gold, and human trafficking, as well as issues related to border deaths, illegal crossings, border infrastructure, and confidence-building measures. The conference concluded with the signing of a Joint Record of Discussions, with the next meeting scheduled for November 2026 in Dhaka.
