Nepal's Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal is undertaking significant diplomatic visits, first to India from June 5-7, 2026, and then to China from June 14-17, 2026. During his visit to India, Shishir Khanal met with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, reviewing bilateral relations and signing agreements on development cooperation, connectivity, trade, energy, and people-to-people ties. Key outcomes included the completion of the India-Nepal Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement in Criminal Matters, the handover of 72 health facilities and 12 cultural heritage projects by India to Nepal, and the launch of a Peer-to-Peer linkage between India's Unified Payments Interface and Nepal's Unified Payments Interface. An MoU was also signed between India — Digital India BHASHINI Division and Kathmandu University for a language translation platform. The upcoming visit to China will involve bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Wang Yi to further strengthen Nepal-China relations and cooperation.
