The acquisition of Kirana Club by Meesho is expected to positively impact Meesho's market position by expanding its B2B e-commerce capabilities and deepening its penetration into India's vast retail market, particularly among small retailers. This strategic move could lead to increased revenue and market share for Meesho in the competitive e-commerce sector.
Meesho, an e-commerce marketplace, is acquiring Kirana Club and its Indian subsidiary Retail Pulse Labs for approximately 202 crore in an all-cash deal. This strategic acquisition aims to strengthen Meesho's presence among small retailers and deepen its footprint in India's commerce ecosystem, especially in Tier-II, Tier-III, Tier-IV cities, and rural India. Kirana Club, founded in 2020 by Anshul Gupta and Aishwarya Jain, operates a mobile-first platform for grocery retailers, connecting them with FMCG brands and distributors. Following the acquisition, Kirana Club will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Meesho, and Retail Pulse Labs will become its step-down subsidiary, with both entities continuing to operate independently. The deal, approved by Meesho's board, is expected to close by March 31, 2027, and provides a full exit for Kirana Club's existing investors while retaining its founder leadership.
