The successful arms recovery operation by the United States — United States Department of State and Nigeria — Nigerian Army in Nigeria — Enugu State is expected to positively impact market sentiment by reducing perceived security risks in the region. This could lead to increased investor confidence in Nigeria — Enugu State and potentially other Southeast states, as the threat from the Eastern Security Network is mitigated.
Governor Peter Mbah of Nigeria — Enugu State commended the United States — United States Department of State (DSS), the Nigeria — Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria — Nigeria Police Force for their commitment to securing Nigeria, particularly the Southeast geopolitical zone. This commendation followed the inspection of a large cache of arms and ammunition recovered by DSS operatives, backed by troops of the Nigeria — Nigerian Army's 82 Division, from the outlawed Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Nigeria — Enugu State. The recovered items included a rocket launcher, RPG warheads, AK-47 rifles, and over 610 rounds of NATO 7.62x39 mm ammunition. The operation was intelligence-driven, thwarting ESN's plans to unleash terror and create a false impression of widespread insecurity in Enugu and other Southeast states. Governor Mbah also thanked President Bola Tinubu for his support in tackling insecurity across the states. Separately, the Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced five bandits to 25 years in prison for their involvement in a school abduction in Niger State.
