The Memorandum of Understanding, signed on May 28, 2026, outlines plans for up to 200,000 tonnes per annum (KTPA) of green ammonia bunkering capacity by 2029-30, with potential expansion to 500 KTPA by 2035. The project involves an estimated investment of \u20b92,000 crore for bunkering infrastructure, potentially rising to \u20b95,000 crore. Additionally, Digital Green is committed to developing a 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) green ammonia production facility near the port, attracting an investment of \u20b915,000 crore, and catalyzing \u20b935,000 crore in renewable power generation. This collaboration aims to position Tuticorin as a key hub for green maritime fuels, supporting India's energy transition and its goal to become a global leader in green hydrogen and its derivatives.
