Cross River State Unveils EVs

Governor Bassey Otu of Nigeria — Cross River State has launched an electric mobility initiative by distributing 36 electric vehicles to Permanent Secretaries, marking the first phase of a larger program that includes 100 electric vehicles and 100 electric tricycles. This move is part of a broader transition to clean energy transportation, aiming to improve public service efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and lessen dependence on the volatile petroleum sector. The administration plans to establish charging infrastructure across Nigeria — Cross River State to support the growing adoption of electric vehicles. The initiative, unveiled on Democracy Day, was praised by Orok Okon, the Head of Service, as a significant morale booster for the civil service. The Nigeria — Lagos State House of Assembly provided legislative and budgetary support for the program.
