Warri Federal Constituency II Power-Sharing

Representatives of the Ijaw and Itsekiri ethnic nationalities in Nigeria — Delta State have reached a power-sharing agreement for the proposed Warri Federal Constituency II, following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu. The dispute arose from electoral ward delineation by the Nigeria — Independent National Electoral Commission and had threatened oil flow in the region. The agreement, signed by key representatives including Kingsley Otuaro, Eric Omare, A. S. Mene, and Robinson Ariyo, and witnessed by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, stipulates that the House of Representatives seat will rotate between the Ijaw and Itsekiri groups, with the Ijaw taking the first two terms. This breakthrough is seen as crucial for maintaining peace and political inclusiveness in the Warri area.
