Electricite du Laos Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) has successfully energized the 400kV Isinya-Konza Transmission Line and the 400/132/66kV Konza Substation. This project, co-financed by the India — Export-Import Bank of India and the Government of Kenya for Sh8.4 billion and executed by China Aerospace Construction Group Company Limited, aims to strengthen Kenya's national electricity transmission network. The new infrastructure will provide stable, reliable, and clean electricity to Kenya — Konza Technopolis, Kenya's flagship smart city, and the wider lower eastern region, including Kajiado, Machakos, and Makueni counties. It will facilitate access to renewable energy sources like Kipeto Wind Power Project, Waita No. 2 Geothermal Power Plant, Lake Turkana Wind Power Project, and hydroelectric power imported from Ethiopia, supporting Kenya's Vision 2030 development agenda and economic growth.
