Matawalle: Only God Ends Nigeria Insecurity

Bello Matawalle, Nigeria's Minister of State for Defence, stated that only God, combined with collective prayers and efforts, can ultimately end the country's pervasive insecurity. His remarks came during an interview with BBC Hausa, amidst a resurgence of attacks, killings, and abductions in various parts of Nigeria, including recent incidents in Nigeria — Oyo State and Nigeria — Borno State where students and teachers were abducted. Matawalle emphasized that insecurity is a national concern transcending political, religious, and ethnic divides, urging Nigerians to support security agencies and refrain from politicizing the crisis. He accused opposition figures of exploiting security challenges to score political points and circulate misleading old videos to portray President Bola Tinubu's government as failing. Despite acknowledging the tireless efforts of security operatives, Matawalle noted that the challenge cannot be eliminated overnight, comparing Nigeria's situation to other powerful nations that have battled insecurity for years. He appealed for continued prayers and support for ongoing efforts to restore peace and security nationwide.
