Teledyne FLIR Launches Black Recon

Teledyne Technologies — Teledyne FLIR, a subsidiary of General Atomics, announced the market launch of Black Recon, an autonomous micro-drone system, at Eurosatory. This system is designed for continuous, untethered reconnaissance from military vehicles and fixed installations, allowing crews to operate, recover, and recharge up to three unmanned aerial systems without leaving their platform. Black Recon offers key capabilities such as autonomous launch and recovery, three-UAV rotation for continuous overwatch, thermal and visible payloads, and GNSS-denied operation. It is engineered for mounted platforms, providing immediate ISR deployment and extending surveillance ranges. The system also has potential applications in public safety and security, including law enforcement, border security, and critical infrastructure monitoring. Deliveries for Black Recon are expected to begin in 2027.
