This collaboration is expected to increase the adoption of instant payments and payment volumes across Europe, benefiting the financial services and technology industries. ACI Worldwide's stock may see positive sentiment due to its expanded role in the European payments ecosystem.
ACI Worldwide has joined the European Payments Initiative (EPI) as a principal member and will integrate EPI's Wero digital wallet solution onto its Payments Orchestration Platform. This strategic collaboration will enable merchants and financial intermediaries across Europe to offer Wero as a new payment method. Wero, a pan-European digital wallet running on SEPA instant payment rails, aims to unify and streamline payments across Europe, offering peer-to-peer transfers, e-commerce, and point-of-sale purchases. The service is currently live in Belgium, France, and Germany, with plans for expansion to Luxembourg and the Netherlands. This move aligns with the EU Instant Payments Regulation, which came into effect in January 2025, requiring banks and payment service providers in the Eurozone to support instant payments.
