The funding for Cortea is expected to accelerate the adoption of AI in the audit profession, potentially increasing efficiency and quality for audit firms. This could lead to a shift in the operating model for audit delivery, impacting the broader financial services and technology industries as firms seek to integrate AI solutions.
Cortea, a company focused on building an AI quality layer for audit firms, has successfully raised \u20ac12 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Dawn Capital, with additional participation from Cherry Ventures, VSR Ventures Private Limited, and angel investors including Larry Bradley, former Global Head of Audit at KPMG. Alongside the funding, Cortea launched its first 'Audit Quality Agents,' which are designed to review audit reports, financial statements, and disclosure notes to identify inconsistencies and potential errors before sign-off. This initiative aims to help audit firms improve quality, manage capacity constraints, and navigate increasing regulatory scrutiny by integrating AI into their workflows in a reviewable and defensible manner. The new capital will be used to develop further audit agents, deepen integrations with existing audit systems, and expand Cortea's operations across the UK, Germany, and the United States.
