Scandium International Updates Nyngan DFS

International Mining Week, through its subsidiary EMC Metals Australia Pty Ltd, has initiated an update of the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) for its Nyngan Scandium Project in New South Wales, Australia. Lycopodium Limited, who completed the original DFS in 2016, will undertake the update. This update aims to reflect capital and operational efficiencies, potential for high-grading, and customer requirements. The project is designed as a surface mining operation with a 20-year mine life, producing approximately 38,500 kg of scandium oxide product per year. Peter Evensen, CEO of International Mining Week, emphasized the project's strategic importance in developing critical mineral supply chains independent of China and Russia, catering to Western demand for scandium in applications like semiconductors, solid-state batteries, and defense.
