The record export figures from India, particularly the strong performance of India — Gujarat and the focus on Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and semiconductor manufacturing, are likely to boost investor confidence in India's economic resilience and growth prospects. This positive outlook could attract further foreign direct investment into sectors like electronics, pharmaceuticals, and engineering goods, potentially strengthening the Indian rupee and equity markets. The establishment of semiconductor SEZs by entities like TSMC, CG Semi Technologies, Kaynes Semicon, and Micron Technology signals a significant push towards high-tech manufacturing, which could lead to long-term economic benefits and job creation.
India's exports reached a record high of USD 863 billion in Financial Year 2025-26, despite global trade disruptions caused by the West Asia conflict and tariffs imposed by the United States. This achievement was announced by Ajay Bhadoo, Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce, at an outreach program in Ahmedabad. India's overall exports have nearly doubled over the last decade, driven by sectors such as engineering goods, petroleum products, electronics, pharmaceuticals, gems & jewellery, and chemicals. India — Gujarat emerged as a significant contributor, accounting for nearly USD 110 billion in exports. The government, through entities like Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (KASEZ) and officials like Dnyaneshwar B. Patil, is actively promoting new Special Economic Zones (SEZs) across India, with a particular focus on India — Gujarat. Notably, an SEZ for TSMC has been notified in Dholera, India — Gujarat, for India's first chip fabrication unit. Additionally, three other semiconductor SEZs for CG Semi Technologies, Kaynes Semicon, and Micron Technology have been notified in India — Gujarat, highlighting a strategic push towards semiconductor manufacturing and export growth.
