L Oréal, the world's leading beauty company, has signed an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Innovist, a prominent digital-first personal care brand house in India. Founded in 2019 by Rohit Chawla, Sifat Khurana, and Vimal Bhola, Innovist is known for its science-led brands like Bare Anatomy and Chemist at Play, which focus on clean formulations and transparent ingredients. This strategic move aims to strengthen L Oréal's presence in India's fast-growing beauty market and complement its existing portfolio with local brands tailored for Indian consumers. The Innovist founding team will remain as minority shareholders and continue to operate the business in collaboration with L Oréal India. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the coming months. L Oréal has also secured rights to acquire the remaining minority shareholding in the future. This acquisition marks L Oréal's first purchase of an Indian company in nearly 13 years, underscoring its renewed commitment to the Indian market.
