Russia Seeks BrahMos Missile Induction

Russia has expressed keen interest in inducting the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile into its armed forces, despite being a joint developer of the missile with India. Jaiteerth Joshi, the BrahMos Aerospace Chief, confirmed that discussions are underway to increase production capacity to meet future requirements, with India potentially playing a role in augmenting Russia's existing manufacturing facilities. This development highlights the growing international reputation of the BrahMos missile, jointly developed by India's India — Defence Research and Development Organisation and Russia's NPO Mashinostroyeniya. The event also coincided with the flagging off of the 100th indigenous booster manufactured by Solar Industries India Limited Ltd. Furthermore, BrahMos Aerospace is in the final stages of export negotiations with Vietnam and is holding discussions with several other countries, reinforcing India's push to expand its defense exports and strengthen indigenous manufacturing under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The missile's combat validation during Operation Sindoor has also boosted confidence among potential buyers.
