India exports biscuits to Oman

India has successfully exported its first consignment of 40 metric tonnes of biscuits manufactured in Varanasi to Oman under the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced this development, emphasizing that the CEPA provides preferential tariff benefits, enabling duty-free access for Indian biscuits in the Omani market. This makes Indian products more price-competitive compared to other key competitors. An agreement has also been signed for the supply of nearly 700 MT of biscuits to Oman and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries during FY 2026-27. The India — Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated this export, which is seen as a significant boost to India's food processing sector, promising higher production and employment.
