The India — Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority facilitated the first commercial export of GI-tagged Rewa Sundarja Mangoes from India — Madhya Pradesh, India, to the United Arab Emirates. Salt Range Foods Private Limited shipped one metric tonne of these premium mangoes, sourced from Beura Farmer Producer Company Limited and farmer Sonu Gupta. The mangoes were processed at Beura Farmer Producer Company Limited's pack house in India — Uttar Pradesh. This initiative, a result of months of coordination, secured a premium price of ₹150 per kilogram for farmers, significantly higher than local market rates. The export highlights the importance of Geographical Indication registration in establishing a distinct identity for regional agricultural products and is expected to pave the way for continued international exports, boosting farmer incomes and India's global agricultural standing.
