The Malaysia — Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) launched the first-ever Malaysia Healthcare Expo (MHX) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from June 26 to 28, 2026. This event marks a significant effort to deepen engagement with Cambodian healthcare tourists and strengthen Malaysia's position as a preferred healthcare destination. In 2025, healthcare traveller volume from Cambodia to Malaysia surpassed 12,000, generating RM30.3 million in revenue. The expo, organized under the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026 (MYMT 2026) campaign, featured leading Malaysian healthcare providers such as National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (IJN) and Subang Jaya Medical Centre, among others. The launch was attended by Suriaghandi Suppiah, CEO of Malaysia — Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), and Sok Chour, Adviser and Deputy Director General of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia, highlighting the growing healthcare partnership between the two nations. Malayan Banking Berhad — Maybank Cambodia and One Health also participated as official partners.
