New York State Tariff Relief

United States — New York (state) Governor Kathy Hochul announced the launch of a $30 million Agricultural Resiliency Against Tariffs Program to provide financial relief to farmers in the state. This program offers direct payments of up to $25,000 to eligible agricultural producers, including dairy, livestock, specialty crop, and aquaculture farmers, who have been negatively impacted by tariffs imposed by the Donald Trump administration. These tariffs, including a global 10% tariff and retaliatory tariffs from China on U.S. soybean exports, have led to increased expenses for United States — New York (state) farmers, with some facing an additional $20,000 annually. The move by United States — New York (state) comes after the United States — Supreme Court of the United States deemed a significant portion of Donald Trump's tariffs illegal, prompting importers to seek refunds. The Donald Trump administration has also sought additional federal aid for farmers, including an $11 billion request to Congress for those affected by high fuel and fertilizer costs.
