The asset swap between Vår Energi and Equinor is expected to have a positive impact on the oil and gas market by optimizing resource development on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Vår Energi's acquisition of the Peon discovery and its planned tie-back to the Gjøa hub will extend the economic life of existing infrastructure, supporting long-term gas production and contributing to Vår Energi's production targets. Equinor's strengthened position in the Troll-Fram area also enhances its strategic portfolio management.
Vår Energi and Equinor have agreed to an asset swap on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Vår Energi will acquire a 32.5% interest and operatorship in the Peon gas discovery from Equinor, with plans to develop it as a tie-back to the Gjøa facilities. This move is expected to extend the economic life of the Gjøa hub to around 2045 and support Vår Energi's long-term production target. In return, Equinor will receive a 5% interest in the producing Fram field, as well as Vår Energi's interests in the Grosbeak and Mulder discoveries and the Grønngylt prospect, strengthening Equinor's position in the Troll-Fram area. The transaction is part of Equinor's broader portfolio optimization program and is subject to customary regulatory approvals from Norway's Ministry of Energy.
