Pakistan joins International Olive Council

Pakistan has become a permanent member of the International Olive Council, with Rana Tanveer Hussain representing the country at the 123rd session in Lisbon. This milestone follows Pakistan's accession in May 2026 and signifies its growing presence in the global olive industry. Pakistan has made significant progress in its olive sector, including planting over 7 million olive trees, establishing a comprehensive 'farm-to-fork' value chain with 51 olive oil extraction units and IOC-aligned quality laboratories, and achieving self-sufficiency in olive sapling production. The country's olive oil has also received international recognition, including a Silver Award at the New York International Olive Oil Competition. This membership is expected to provide Pakistan with access to technical expertise, international best practices, and global markets, supporting its efforts to improve olive production, enhance quality standards, and increase exports.
