The €1.45 billion financing secured by Boralex is expected to positively impact its stock price due to enhanced financial flexibility and capacity for growth in the renewable energy sector in France. This transaction, being one of the largest debt packages for a renewable energy platform in Europe this year, signals strong investor confidence in the renewable energy market.
Boralex, in collaboration with co-shareholder Energy Infrastructure Partners, has closed a €1.45 billion ($2.34 billion) financing package for its French operations. This transaction transitions Boralex from a multi-borrower debt structure to a single platform financing, providing greater commercial flexibility and strengthening its capacity to deploy capital and scale its renewable energy platform in France. The financing includes an €811 million term loan for existing assets, a €450 million CAPEX line facility for growth projects, a €100 million revolving credit facility, and €92 million for debt service reserve and VAT facilities. This innovative financing is supported by a diversified pool of ten banks. Rothschild & Co acted as financial advisor and A&O Shearman as legal counsel for Boralex.
