Elastic Enhances Observability Platform

Elastic, the Search AI Company, announced significant new capabilities for its observability platform, bringing enhanced metrics handling to the same level of scale and performance as its log management. The updates include native support for Project Prometheus and PromQL, out-of-the-box Kubernetes investigation workflows, and automated migration tools from Datadog and Grafana Labs. Elastic's Elasticsearch columnar metrics engine is touted to query metrics up to 30 times faster than Project Prometheus and store data 2.5 times more efficiently, addressing the growing challenges of scale, cost, and reliability in the metrics landscape, especially with the rise of AI workloads. The company aims to provide a unified platform for metrics, logs, and traces, eliminating the need for separate backends and reducing operational friction for Site Reliability Engineers (SREs).
