Schneider Electric has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of Cognite Holding, a provider of industrial data and AI software, in an all-cash transaction valued at $3.1 billion. This acquisition aims to strengthen Schneider Electric's industrial AI strategy and expand the capabilities of its wholly owned industrial software company, Aveva. Cognite Holding's cloud-native platform, which combines a unified industrial data model with AI capabilities, will be integrated into Aveva's CONNECT platform. The deal is expected to close in the coming quarters, subject to regulatory approvals. Aker ASA, an investor in Cognite Holding, is set to receive approximately $1.48 billion from the transaction. Oliver Blume, CEO of Schneider Electric, highlighted that this acquisition positions Schneider Electric at the center of the next phase of industrial intelligence.
