Ghana Sued Over US Deportation Deal

An international coalition of human rights lawyers and advocates, including the Global Strategic Litigation Council, has sued Ghana in the Community Court of Justice of the ECOWAS. The lawsuit accuses Ghana of violating international legal principles by forcing deportees from the United States back to their home countries, despite U.S. judges issuing protection orders. This action stems from a deal between Ghana and the Trump administration, under which Ghana accepted and facilitated the onward removal of these deportees. The lawsuit seeks to halt further transfers, compel Ghana to release the deal's terms, award damages, and prevent similar future agreements. This is part of a broader trend, as Equatorial Guinea also faces a similar legal challenge.
