The expansion of Franklin Templeton into Qatar is expected to positively impact the financial services and asset management industries in the Middle East. It signifies increased foreign investment and expertise in Qatar, potentially leading to greater capital flows and development within the region's financial markets.
Franklin Templeton, a global asset manager, is expanding its presence in the Middle East by establishing a new entity, Franklin Templeton Investments QFC, and a local office within the Qatar — Qatar Financial Centre (QFC). This move, authorized by the QFC Regulatory Authority, reinforces Doha's role as a regional hub for global asset managers and strengthens Qatar's financial sector. The expansion builds on an existing partnership with the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and the Franklin Templeton Qatar Equity Fund. Jenny Johnson, CEO of Franklin Templeton, and Mansoor Rashid Al-Khater, CEO of QFC, both highlighted the strategic importance of this expansion for Qatar's financial market development, aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030. Salah Shamma has been appointed Senior Executive Officer and Country Head of Franklin Templeton Investments QFC.
