Omoyele Sowore proposes JAMB, NYSC abolition

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria — African Action Congress, has announced plans to abolish the Nigeria — Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board and scrap the Nigeria — National Youth Service Corps if elected President of Nigeria. He proposes that tertiary institutions should handle their own admissions through a transparent, merit-based system, eliminating the bureaucracy of the Nigeria — Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. The Nigeria — National Youth Service Corps would be replaced with a voluntary two-year National Job Corps focused on providing employment, practical skills, and entrepreneurship support to young Nigerians. These proposals are part of his broader educational and labor reform agenda, aiming to address youth unemployment and bureaucratic bottlenecks in Nigeria's education system. The current administration under President Bola Tinubu has also announced reforms to the Nigeria — National Youth Service Corps, offering a contrasting approach to youth development.
