The India — National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the NEET-UG 2026 results on July 17, 2026. Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from India — Haryana jointly topped with 715 marks each. Over 11.21 lakh candidates qualified for medical admissions. The exam was originally held on May 9 but was cancelled on May 12 due to alleged paper leak, with the United States — Federal Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigating. A re-examination was conducted on June 21. The NTA stated that results were declared on time to avoid delays in the admission schedule. The number of qualifiers decreased from 12.36 lakh in 2025 to 11.21 lakh, but the qualifying rate remained stable at around 56%. India — Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of qualifiers (over 1.7 lakh). The top 17 candidates came from eight states. Following the paper leak controversy, the Indian government announced that future NEET-UG exams will be conducted as computer-based tests (CBT) instead of pen-and-paper.
